Film Bug
Has anyone else been bitten by the film bug? I took these pictures last year when I first got my first medium format camera. I struggled. These is no metering, all manual focus, and the view finder is a mirror image of what I am looking at. So I was really out of my element. But I recently took the camera back out and made myself use it.
I am pretty quick with pictures. The pictures below were almost on my blog before my girls got out of the bath! haha. There is something really nice about "immediate" pictures. Now saying that there is something wonderful about waiting. It will take almost a week for me to get my most recent batch of film back... I wait on pins and needles!
I own three film cameras now... honestly hardly used them because I was too chicken. Finally just took a leap and now am getting ready to buy another canon film SLR so I can use my current lenses with it.
Reasons I like film
1) The biggest reason is there is a much broader highlight to shadow range. I can get my dynamic images (I hope)
2) No editing! I love that!
3) No white balance issues (or so I have read)
4) I love that it something that not everyone is doing!
5) Most importantly.. it slows me down. You can't just shoot away and see what you got...costs to much. You have to focus and really be present when you are shooting.
What I don't like about film
1) well it is more a con for my pocket book. It is expensive. Film costs about 5.00 a roll and about 10.00 to develop. Right now I shoot with 120 film with 15 exposures! With my digital camera I am an total over shooter.... can't do that here.
